Hi, y’all! I hope that everyone survived the whirlwind that we call Thanksgiving. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the details: the menu, grocery shopping, table decor, activities for kids and guests, and the list goes on and on. Oftentimes we don’t have a chance to reflect on what the day means until the food is put away and the guests have gone home for the evening. No matter how you celebrated, I hope it was a day filled with love and gratitude. I, for one, am beyond grateful for every reader that comes to this site and supports Blonde Voyage Nashville. Y’all are simply the best!

Now I know now might not be the best time to drop a new wine review on you. If you’re like me, you’ve thoroughly enjoyed Thanksgiving and the leftovers that come with it and are likely on day two of your Thanksgiving food coma. But this bottle is too good not to share, and if it’s anything like Fadeaway that I shared a few weeks ago, it will be tough to get your hands on a bottle, especially one this good!

During one of my many Trader Joe’s runs in the last few days, I spotted Estero, a red blend wine from California that undoubtedly caught my eye. While the label is stunning and usually one of the first things that grabbed my attention, it was the fact that this red wine was bottled in a clear glass bottle. I’ve consumed my fair share of red wine, but I’ve never spotted red wine in a clear bottle. I was intrigued so much so that a bottle ended up in my shopping cart! But before I get too ahead of myself, let’s jump into the tasting notes, shall we?

TASTING NOTES:

  • Natural cork

  • Deep/ Intense ruby red color

  • Notes of dark red fruit ( blackberry, plums)

  • Super jammy with a hint of sweetness at the back of the mouth

  • Hints of chocolate and mocha throughout

  • Touch of oakiness

  • Bold, yet smooth in the mouth

Verdict:

This wine is an absolute winner. If you love full-bodied red wines that are fruit-forward/jammy, this bottle has your name all over it. As I was doing my research on this wine producer, I happened upon another bottle Exitus Red Bourbon Barrel that was eerily familiar. The bottles are so similar ( label and bottle type) that you can hardly tell them apart! Exitus retails for approximately $18.00/bottle whereas Estero retails for approximately half the price. Although I haven’t tasted Exitus, I suspect they are VERY SIMILAR! This is an incredible bottle and one that would make a great hostess happy or even a gift. Grab this one while you can!

Until Next Time!
