I find too often we only drink champagne or sparkling wine when there’s a momentous occasion or something to celebrate. WRONG. Life is simply way too short, and we should be able to drink what we want when we want (generally speaking).

Throughout January, we will taste different bottles of bubbles: Prosecco, Cava, Sparkling Wine, and maybe we will even through a bottle of champagne in for good measure. In all seriousness, we are doing the best we can. If popping open a bottle of bubbly on a random Wednesday night makes you happy, I fully support it.

Without further ado, I want to share this week’s TJ Tuesday feature, Grandi Mori Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore. If you saw my Instagram stories, please don’t judge my Italian. In all seriousness, I discovered this bottle over the holidays and fell in love. After I poured my first glass, I was in absolute shock. It tasted as good or better than the bottles I schlepped back from Italy on my Prosecco tour….and it was only $9.99. Trust me, it tastes MUCH more expensive than $9.99. You will fool everyone if you bring this bottle. Before I bore you with my gushing, I thought I’d share my tasting notes.

TASTING NOTES:

  • Classic Cork

  • Light, bright, and lots of fizz

  • Definitely falls towards the drier end of the spectrum- no sweetness here!

  • Crisp and refreshing; Medium acidity

  • Dry and fruit-forward at the same time

  • Notes of green apple, honeysuckle, hints of citrus ( orange/clementine)

  • Yeasty-bread finish, which I found to be quite pleasant

Verdict:

What a find and at this pricepoint nonetheless! This is great as a stand-alone drink or perfect for your next mimosa mixture.

Run, don’t walk to Aldi and snag yourself a few bottles. I promise you will feel magically transported to the Italian countryside.

Until Next Time!
