I’ve never met a piece of chocolate that I did love. It’s been my weakness for as long as I can remember. So, when one of my friends suggested checking out Honest Chocolate while we were wandering around Capetown, it was a decision that I fully supported.

Whether you are a dessert enthusiast, a chocoholic and just looking for something to satiate that sweet tooth, Honest Chocolate is one place in Capetown you don’t want to miss.

Based in Capetown, South Africa, Honest Chocolate is an artisan chocolatier specializing in handcrafted, small-batch chocolate.

Using “old-school methods” and quality organic ingredients, Honest Chocolate produces chocolate that is “deliciously distinct.”

Inside Honest Chocolate Cafe

Cakes And Tarts Prepared By Honest Choclate

Located on Wale Street, Honest Chocolate Cafe serves an assortment of truffles, tarts, cakes and cold drinks that will have you swooning. I didn’t get there until later in the afternoon and while many of the truffles remained, baked goods were somewhat picked over. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to secure the LAST piece of chocolate cake (such sweet destiny).

A girl cannot have cake alone, therefore I decided to check out their famous Coconut Dream (not pictured) which is made with coconut milk and blended with soaked dates, cocoa powder, and ice. While the ingredients may sound simple, it was one of the most decadent things I had on my trip, aside from the cake.

The ULTIMATE Chocolate Cake

I didn’t want to linger too terribly long as the cafe has limited seating and I can promise you after inhaling those delicious bites, I was more than ready to explore the city. If you are in need of something a bit stronger, there is a secret gin bar tucked behind Honest Chocolate Cafe in the courtyard that serves over 70 local gins unique to South Africa and to be quite honest, this girl is kicking herself for not checking it out. But, there’s always next time!

Until Next Time!

Tariff: Prices of baked goods may vary with items priced as low as R18.

Can’t Miss: Given that I only had a chance to sample a few things, I have to tell you- DON’T MISS THE CHOCOLATE CAKE. It will leave you swooning. I did have a bite of my friend’s spiced nut salted caramel tart and it was to die for. Regardless of what you order, I feel like you can’t go wrong.
