Tasting Notes:

Last week, I fell in love with The Pass (last seen here) From the aromatics to the taste, I'd rank it as one of my top wines for June. With that said, I wanted to stay in the New Zealand region and try a different Sauvignon Blanc. After all, New Zealand is known for their amazing Sav Blancs, so I thought I'd test this theory.

Similar to The Pass, the nose of this wine made my mouth instantly water. So far so good, right? I could smell the acidity in the wine. Once I took my first sip, my mouth puckered a bit, well maybe a LOT. I drank my first glass, note that it wasn't paired with food, and while it was refreshing and light, it was quite tart. Below are a few other tasting observations:

  • High Acidity

  • Light body

  • Aromatic nose

  • Tropical fruit notes

  • Clean and crisp on the palate

  • Would pair nicely with lunch or perhaps a cheeseboard

Verdict: This one is challenging. I enjoyed a glass of it but once I went in for round 2, I found the acid to be excessive. Perhaps when it's paired with food, it will be a bit more enjoyable.

Until Next Time!
