When my dear friend Brigitte from Top Nosh Eats makes a recommendation, it's one that you take note of. Several weeks ago, she recommended that I try Dearly Beloved I Thee Red. Considering that the wine and liquor laws are so different between Las Vegas and Nashville, I was fearful that I wouldn't find this little gem at Trader Joe's. Cruising the wine aisle, I spotted the Halloween-esque bottle. Scooping up not one but two bottles, I filled my cart and finished my shopping.
As soon as I uncorked the bottle, yes this one has a cork ladies and gents, I could smell the fruity nose and I knew I was in for a treat. Here are a few other characteristics I noted during my tasting:
Dark Ruby Color
Fruity nose with notes of blackberry, cherries, and vanilla
Medium body
Soft/light tannins
Light/ Medium Acidity
Verdict: I knew my friend wouldn't steer me wrong. This red blend is a winner. Typically, you don't think of red wines being soft and fruity, however, this is one you can sip on it during the summer months and carry it right into fall.
