Bonjour, amateurs de vin!
Fresh off my return from Paris, I couldn’t resist keeping the French spirit alive a little longer.
When I tell you that reentry to Nashville and reality has hit hard, that’s quite possibly the understatement of the century. It’s been a while since I’ve grabbed a bottle of wine from Trader Joe’s, so I thought what better way to keep L’esprit français alive than by sampling a bottle of French wine. After all, one of France’s greatest passions is wine. From elegant reds of Bordeaux to the crisp whites of Chablis and the effervescent charm of Champagne, French wine is more than just a drink. It’s a story of terroir, tradition, and craftsmanship all in one bottle.
I had some incredible wine on my trip- in fact, I am still dreaming about this amazing bottle of red I enjoyed at Le Bon George.
Join me as I continue my delusion of pretending I’m back in Paris as I uncork a taste of France.
Let’s jump into the tasting note, shall we?
Tasting Notes:
Pale, light gold hue
Light to medium body
Slight minerality; refreshing on the palate
Crisp citrus notes- think lemon, tart pear // bright acidity
Hints of honey and vanilla, both very subtle
Well balanced; lingering finish
Verdict
Even though I am not in Paris, it was nice to pour a glass of this Chablis, sit on my patio, and enjoy this incredible weather. I thoroughly enjoyed this bottle. I realize the price point is a bit higher than what I usually enjoy from Trader Joe’s, but damn, it was worth every penny. Before you balk at the price, remember this bottle is cheaper than what you would spend on a couple of glasses of wine or cocktails at a restaurant.
While I enjoyed this wine sans food, it would be a lovely pairing for seafood dishes or even with a delicious baked camembert. Hold please, while I purchase another bottle so I can enjoy that pairing.
If you grab a bottle, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop them in the comments below!
Until Next Time!
