Few things are more revealing about a trip to Paris than the state of your luggage upon return. Mine came home considerably more ambitious than it left, stuffed with champagne bottles, beautiful little objects, and copious amounts of skincare products from the French Pharmacy, all of which seemed entirely necessary on the other side of the Atlantic. Now, back home and facing the inevitable unpacking, I’ve decided that the only civilized way to sort through the spoils is with a glass of wine in hand.
Today’s pour is the 2025 Villa Borghetti Otto Pinot Grigio, a low-alcohol Italian white that feels particularly well suited to the post-Paris return. Made from Pinot Grigio in Italy's Veneto region, Otto comes in at a notably restrained 8.5% ABV, making it lighter on its feet than many of the bottles I typically reach for. Trader Joe’s describes this as an easygoing, everyday sipper, and after a long flight, several overstuffed suitcases, and the daunting task of finding homes for all my Paris purchases, easygoing is exactly what this girl needs.
Without further ado, let’s get into the tasting details, shall we?
Tasting Notes:
Pale lemon/ light straw hue; incredibly translucent
Bright citrus notes, lime and grapefruit, throughout, combined with notes of ripe apple and pear
Slight hint of spiciness
Subtle minerality with a refreshing citrus zip
Verdict:
I’ve had this bottle chilling for a few weeks now, and in hindsight, it would have been perfect for summer. Overall, I found this Pinot Grigio uncomplicated, refreshing, and very easy to drink; in other words, a pretty ideal patio pounder. This is the bottle you reach for when you want something cold, crisp, and refreshing without spending much money. It’s not the bottle I’d grab when I’m looking for complexity or a serious food wine, but that’s not really the point. For me, this feels much more like a casual afternoon apertitivo wine, light, easygoing, and perfectly happy to keep your glass full.

Until Next Time!
