Is anyone else realizing summer is almost over and feeling like they didn't actually do anything with it? One minute it's Memorial Day and the next you're staring down August with a mental list of everything you meant to do — the trips, the dinners, the lazy afternoons that somehow never happened. I mean, I have yet to make it to the pool. What is wrong with me?!
It's August, which means summer has maybe six weeks left in it, and I intend to spend all of them well. One more weekend trip. A spritz on the patio that turns into two. Dessert before dinner, no explanation offered. If you're going to make summer last, this is the moment to actually do it; I'm doing my part tonight with a cold bottle of 2024 James Sauvignon Blanc, packing for Mexico City.
Packing is, hands down, my least favorite part of any trip. A glass of wine doesn't fix that, but it makes the process feel marginally more like a choice and less like a chore.
You may recall the James Chardonnay already had it turn; curious to see how this bottle turns up.
Let’s get into it.
Tasting Notes:
Pale straw golden hue
Citrus notes on the nose- particularly grapefruit and lime with subtle peach
Crispness with high acidity and mineral undertones
Clean and zesty finish
Verdict:
Thoroughly enjoyed this bottle, right up there with the Chardonnay. Perfect for packing for a picnic or sipping on the patio alongside oysters or a citrusy fish crudo. If you spot it on the shelf at your local Trader Joe's, grab it and let me know your thoughts in the comments. It screams summer, and I'm savoring every last drop while it lasts.
Until Next Time!
