TASTING NOTES:

Even though rosé is considered a summer wine, I was intrigued by this Pinot Grigio Rosé by Villa Borghetti and had to give it try. Speaking as a seasoned rosé drinker, (trust me, I’ve had my fair share of bottles over the past few summers), this was a new twist on one of my favorite summer wines. Yes, it was below freezing when I tried this but I just couldn’t help myself.

I’ve been trying to escape the bleakness of winter by reliving my Italian vacation and have been on a bit of an Italian wine kick lately. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wine was DOC, which means it meets a specific quality standard and is produced within a certain region. At this price point, it’s not something you often come across.

Happily, I poured myself a glass and gave it a swirl.

Here were some of my initial observations:

  • Pale pink hue

  • Peach aromas

  • Strawberry and faint notes of raspberry

  • Notes of citrus throughout- think tangerine

  • Light, smooth, and easy to drink

Verdict:

This Villa Borghetti Pinot Grigio Rosé is a solid purchase and given its price point, it’s a steal. Call it a pool pounder or a patio sipper, this wine is perfect for warmer weather but could also serve as the perfect “warm-up” for celebrating Thanksgiving with the family.

Until Next Time!
