This week for TJ Tuesday, we visit Willamette Valley, Oregon which is known for producing some killer Pinot Noirs. While battling the crowd at Trader Joe’s this past weekend, one bottle with a beautiful orange label caught my eye, Petiole. Even though I gravitate towards red wine, I usually choose an Italian blend or head straight for the Cabernet Sauvignon. In an effort to expand my palate, I thought it would be nice to enjoy a juicy Pinot Noir.

Intrigued by the name, I immediately had to google what it means. Petiole is a term used in Botany and is the place where the leaf meets the stem. When it comes to the vineyards and winemaking, the petiole determines the health of the vine and if the nutrients are being evenly distributed. Let’s talk tasting notes, shall we?

TASTING NOTES:

  • Translucent Garnet Hue

  • Notes of red fruit: Cherry and Cranberry

  • Very juicy and smooth in the mouth

  • Light body

  • Versatile- Could pair with many different foods

Verdict:

I am not having the best luck with my TJ Tuesday choices this year. While the wine wasn’t terrible, it didn’t leave me wanting more either. Overall, this wine is a pass for me and I’m hoping that I have better luck next week!

Until Next Time!
