Now that the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are finally below 90, it’s finally starting to feel like fall in Nashville. Go ahead and call me basic, but I’ve been burning my fall candle collection since September 1.

Cooler weather calls for red wine and this week we are going to taste Oxte- The Silence, which is a red blend from Carinena, Spain. It’s a relatively young wine, 2019 vintage, so I was excited to experience the layers of flavors.

I poured myself a pretty hefty glass, I know, such a surprise. After swirling it around for a bit, I decided it would be best to let the wine breathe before I started tasting.

TASTING NOTES:

  • Classic Cork

  • Cherry notes on the nose and black cherry and spice ( cinnamon/pepper) on the palate

  • Overall, nicely balanced wine; relatively smooth

  • Subtle sweetness on the palate

  • Falls on the bolder end of the spectrum

  • Dry finish

Verdict:

If you are a cherry enthusiast, this wine is for you. However, it fell a little flat. While the $5.99 price point is certainly enticing, there are so many options at Trader Joe’s that I enjoy much more than this bottle.

Until Next Time!
