The Prague Restaurant List You Didn’t Know You Needed
One of my favorite things about traveling, besides getting gloriously lost in a new city, is discovering restaurants that make you question everything you thought you knew about the local food scene. Prague surprised me in the best way possible, and I found out that it’s not all beer halls and goulash, but let’s be honest, there’s a time and place for both. From romantic riverfront dinners to tucked-away local establishments that feel like secrets, I ate my way through the city with the enthusiasm of someone pretending that calories don’t count on vacation. Here’s a roundup of spots that totally stole my heart and maybe a button off my jeans.
For breathtaking views and Czech cuisine with a modern twist
My first night in Prague, I dined at Mlýnec, and it was nothing short of brilliant. It’s one of those experiences that makes you pause mid-bite and say “ Damn, this is really good!” Just steps away from the Charles Bridge, it’s got a front row view of the Vltava River and Prague Castle. Basically, your dinner comes with a side of jaw-dropping scenery, free of charge. The menu is a delicious mix of Czech classics with modern twists. I loved everything I ordered, but the standouts of the evening were the Dry-Aged Beef Tartare and the Mille Feuille, featured below. Have I mentioned the wine pairings? They are so on-point, you’ll wonder if the sommelier can read your mind. It’s the kind of restaurant that’s upscale without being uptight. Every detail is intentional, but you still feel completely at ease.
If you want to snag a table, especially one with a view, reservations are HIGHLY recommended.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city
Tucked away in a quiet street near Prague Castle, Vinobona isn’t the kind of place you stumble into. It’s the kind of place you seek out, especially if you’re into unforgettable food. With only a handful of seats ( and by handful, I mean 8), it feels more like a secret dinner party than a restaurant, and that’s part of the charm. The tasting menu changes with the season, the dishes are small works of art, and the wine pairings are dangerously delicious. If you’re looking for a dinner that feels intimate and indulgent, Vinobona is where you go to impress your taste buds and maybe your friends.
When you’re looking for a meal that feels like a local treasure
If you’re wandering through the cobblestone streets of Prague and find yourself in need of a little comfort food, I’ve got just the place. UVOZ is a little gem of a restaurant that nails the sweet spot between casual charm and seriously amazing food. So good that you will ask, “Should we come back tomorrow?” The menu leans into Czech comfort classics but with enough finesse to make your Instagram followers insanely jealous. The wood-paneled walls and the flickering candles make it feel ike you’ve stepped into someone’s very stylish Prague dining room.
One of my favorite things about ŪVOZ is that it’s easy and has a great vibe. The standout dish of the evening was the Duck Confit, featured below. The duck is served with red cabbage and potato dumplings, which make the dish rich and hearty, exactly what you want after a day of sightseeing. The duck practically fell off the bone and was honestly one of my favorite dishes of the entire trip. Pair it with a crisp lager or a local Czech wine, and I guarantee you will walk out with a smile on your face.
When you’re looking for a vibey restaurant near Old Town Square
Situated directly across from the Astronomical Clock, 420 Restaurant is as stunning as it is palate-pleasing. It’s much more than a prime location. Inside, the ambiance is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and historical charm, housed in a beautifully restored 15th-century building. One of my favorite parts of the restaurant is the open kitchen, which invites guests to witness the culinary mastery firsthand.
Now, let’s talk about all things food. The menu at 420 is a creative reimagining of Czech cuisine, courtesy of Michelin-starred chefs Radek Kašpárek and Marek Komínek. Complimenting the menu is an extensive wine list featuring exceptional Czech wines alongside prestigious, well-known labels. I was fortunate that I was with a group of people, so we had the opportunity to curate our own experience and sample so many different menu items, some of which I wouldn’t have ordered otherwise.
If you are celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in the finer things, 420 offers a memorable gastronomic journey in the heart of Prague.
Perhaps you’re a devoted foodie or just someone who plans their sightseeing around restaurants ( no judgement, because I do the same thing), these four Prague restaurants absolutely deserve a spot on your itinerary. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you. From rich Czech comfort food to refined, wine-paired plates that feel straight out of a dream, each spot brings something special to the table. So go ahead, loosen that belt a notch, make a few reservations, and consider your dining plans in Prague deliciously sorted. Bon appétit or as they say in Czech, dobrou chuť!
Until Next Time!
