A Sunset Cruise on the Seine: One of the Best Things to Do in Paris
Consider this my long-overdue return to this little corner of the internet. It’s been a few months since my last post, and in the time since, there have been new destinations, memorable meals, and plenty of stories that deserve their moment on the page.
Over the coming months, I’ll revisit the places, tables, and experiences that have kept me busy, with plenty to share along the way.
But first, Paris. Because if one place warrants a proper editorial rewind, it’s the City of Light, and I have a feeling we’ll need more than one post to do it justice.
One of my favorite moments from my latest trip to Paris came courtesy of the Seine. A river cruise may fall firmly in the tourist category, but some places earn their place on the itinerary regardless. Watching Paris transition into golden hour, with its iconic landmarks unfolding along the river, reminded me that even the most familiar sights are best appreciated from a different perspective.
And at sunset?
Absolutely worth it.
The cruise first caught my attention thanks to Trinity (@trinityyfrank) on TikTok, and while I can’t claim the discovery as my own, I can confirm it deserves a spot on your Paris itinerary.
To book, search for Vedettes du Pont Neuf and select the Champagne River Cruise. A small caveat: the champagne itself wasn’t exactly the star of the show, but the views more than make up for it.
One important tip: Check the sunset time for the exact date of your visit before booking. Timing is everything here. You'll want to be on the Seine as the sky begins to change color, watching the city’s landmarks take on that golden-hour glow. Get the timing right, and the views are worth every minute.
The boarding point is at Square du Vert-Galant, on the Île de la Cité, right at the foot of Pont Neuf. Once you reach the bridge, follow the steps down towards Square du Vert-Galant and the riverbank, where you’ll find the boarding area.
The cruise recommends arriving at least 15 minutes before departure, but I’d suggest getting there a little earlier if you have your eye on a particular seat on the boat. Arriving ahead of the crowd gives you a better chance of choosing your preferred spot on board, and when sunset views are the main event, where you sit can make a difference.
Seat selection tip: If you want the best view of the Eiffel Tower as you pass beneath the bridge, sit on the left-hand side of the boat when facing forward. It’s a small detail that can make a difference when you’re hoping to capture those quintessential Paris-at-sunset shots.
At €29 per ticket, this is one Paris experience I’d happily recommend and, without a doubt, one of the best investments I made during my trip. The sunset views alone made it worth every Euro.
Paris has no shortage of ways to spend an afternoon, an evening, or an entire itinerary, but this is one experience I’d make room for every time. Yes, it’s touristy. No, I don’t think that’s a reason to skip it.
Watching the city from the Seine as the light fades and the Eiffel Tower begins to sparkle feels as magical as you’d hope.
If you’re planning a trip to Paris, consider this your sign to book the cruise. Just check the sunset time, arrive early, and let the City of Light do what it does best.
Until Next Time!
